Hi Matt

 

Thanks for doing the diagnostics on the car and the other bits and pieces.

 

I picked it up on Saturday and drove it around a bit. It seems fine now! Very odd – presumably, some sort of temporary fuel or dirty fuel issue, but a new filter and clean out can only have helped.

Dear Matt,

 

Apologies for the delay but, a wee note just to thank-you for our lovely drive home!  I am still getting used to her and all the gears, nifty sorting where all the wee notches are especially throwing in reverse as well!!

  

Oh, and the hood fastenings are really super too especially the lock button, really efficient.

 

I realise the meeting at Stafford will be hard work for you but I wish you success, Have a great day.

My local garage  gave my MX5 (1999 Japanese import) the last rites.
So I took it to Matt.
And his expert eye saw through the gloom.
The radiator hadn’t gone - it was the water pump.
The engine was covered in oil because the new seals were badly installed.
The air filter hadn’t gone - it was upside down.
The list of what was inexpertly fitted or missed was frightening.
But not frighteningly expensive to put right.
For an expert.
A couple of days later I was driving the car I first bought. Maybe it’s a bit better.
I’m looking forward to the service at Matts.
It’s only going to improve from here on in.

Many thanks to Matt and his team at MX5 Works who did a truly impressive repair job on my RX 8! The team’s patience and commitment in getting the project done was exceptional. The cars bodywork needed an overhaul which included replacement of driver side rear quarter panel/ wheel arch and then extensive rust/ scratch removal from the rear bumper and both left- and right-hand rear doors! The paint re spray (to virtually half the car), including some of the racing trim was excellent and subtly and expertly done. Really pleased with the result! My car looks almost as good as the day it was registered!

Hi Matt

Just wanted to say how much we are enjoying our MX5 MK1 and thank you so much for the time and patience you put into to making the car look so good.

The sills and wheel arches have been replaced/refurbished with a quality finish, the underside rust proofed and the car is running really well. 

We followed your advice and it is great to have someone to work on these cars who really cares and knows what they are doing.

I found MX5 Works on the internet. The garage I used before had gone out of business. I had an ABS problem and needed an MOT. Matt and his team diagnosed the problem accurately and quickly. I was entirely satisfied they were right. The ABS sensors were rusted in, and needed to be very carefully drilled and coaxed out, and the bolt holes drilled and re-tapped. This was a difficult awkward and time consuming job. The particular replacement sensors cost a fortune, but Matt took care to find the best deal available (I checked). The whole job was done skilfully and carefully. The entries for the sensors were carefully cleaned out with a Dremmel tool and greased up with copper slip. The bolts were greased and refitted properly, along with warnings from Matt not to over tighten. Along the way a couple other broken bolts were drilled out and refitted - no charge. Wheel nuts torqued correctly. MOT arranged and carried out efficiently, in spite of setbacks when dealing with the ABS sensor problems.
As well as all that, they are friendly, courteous, and Matt will give you his time to discuss and advise on your MX5. They are not ashamed to let you see what they are doing, and offer you tea as well. They give you a receipt. It ain’t posh, but In 40 years I have not come across a garage that provides this level of service and competency, and still charges what I think is an entirely reasonable price. If you need work on your MX5 drive the distance to MX5 Works, I don’t think you will find anywhere better in this country. There’s more, but go and see for yourself.

Hello guys,

 

Just a quick thank you for the service you just completed on my MX5. I’ve been looking and trying various other garages but now it feels like I have finally found one that really cares about the brand and does a good honest job.

 

I will come back when the next service is due, or perhaps sooner for the sill rust issue.
